Dear Readers of CreoleGen:

This special post is an opportunity for us to introduce to some and re-introduce to others, the mission and work of CreoleGen! We are celebrating our third anniversary! – The bedrock of CreoleGen, our educational website www.CreoleGen.org was launched three years ago this month! Less than two weeks ago, CreoleGen received 501(c)(3) non-profit designation from the Internal Revenue Service. This is a major accomplishment because now contributions from our readers and other benefactors are tax deductible!

Since CreoleGen began, it has drawn a readership that is international in scope and has been viewed over 175,000 times. We cannot thank our readers enough for their support, their insightful comments, and their suggestions for future articles! We encourage our readers to continue their past generosity. Keep in mind that CreoleGen is a non-profit entity, our mission and purpose remains researching and documenting the lives of ethnically diverse Louisiana and Gulf Coast Creole families.

The topics covered on CreoleGen.org continue to be incredibly diverse. They range from Mardi Gras courts and social clubs to early business leaders and the efforts of our ancestors to fight prejudice and discrimination. The familiar topics include colleges, schools, Mardi Gras clubs, church parishes, businesses and professionals, educators, and genealogical profiles on families, among others. As a result of these articles, family members have been reconnected, childhood friends have rediscovered each other, and we have received invitations to speak at events and work with schools and churches as they prepare their histories.

We look forward to publishing even more articles in the future. Your suggestions and comments are always welcomed. We also have expanded the services we provide. CreoleGen is available to perform research-for-hire, consultations, and set-up for other non-profit organizations. Speaking engagements are gladly accepted and enable us to further serve as an educational resource. See our ‘Services’ page for more information. We are also working on long-range plans for the future as well.

We thank you again for your support as we continue to research and document the lives of ethnically diverse Louisiana and Gulf Coast Creole families. Merci beaucoup!

Sincerely,

CreoleGen

  1. Congratulations Creole Gen on three fine years!! Here’s a toast for many more!! Red beans thanks for all you do, Mona Lisa; Dr. Mona Lisa Saloy, Author & Folklorist

  2. Three years is the corporate turning point for profit, longevity, knowing you have made it and will continue over the long turn. May this also be your turning point for the same things. My contribution is on the way.

  3. Congratulations to all of you for providing a site for us to be able to go to and learn about the history of our ancestors and to also share it with the rest of the world. For too many years, too much information about our creole culture has been missing or not available for research and you have now made it possible for us to preserve it and pass it down to future generations. Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do. Keep up the awesome work!!!
