The Eighth Grade students are pictured in front of Corpus Christi Church at the corner of  Saint Bernard Avenue and North Galvez Street. The school was opened in 1917 and was staffed by the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament.

This is a valuable memento of Creole history that we at CreoleGen were so proud to receive and share with you, our readers. It adds to the ever unfolding discovery of the 7th Ward story. It is also a snapshot of many rich cultures that comprised our New Orleans history. So much of the rich history of people of color (especially during the Jim Crow era) has yet to be told. By preserving and sharing such photos we hope to assist in this endeavor.
