    • Janet,
Thank you for the correction. Please check and make sure I have Gloria and Clytie’s names properly placed…Lolita

      • Clytie Florence Marchand was my mother. She is pictured on the second page, in the fifth row. She is the LAST picture. The listing was correct when the pages were posted originally. My cousin Janet Julien’s “correction” is in error.

        Roslyn Johnson Smith
        XUP Class of 1970

    • Hi. Will you please share picture of Joycelyn Charbonnet. She graduated with that class. She said she was on the inside cover of the book. She and Alvarez Gavin were class President and Secretary.

  1. Janet…..If you are looking for the Martinez School 1952 graduating class photo just do the following. Go to the main page on CreoleGen, find the “SEARCH” box on the right upper side of the page and type in “Martinez School.” All articles on Martinez will pop up and just click on the one you wish to view. There is also a great photo of the 1939 graduating class also.

  2. Shellie,
You said that Joycelyn graduated with this class but her photo nor Alvarez’s picture is with the other members as shown above. Maybe, as class president and secretary, their photos were taken separately. This picture was not taken from a regular hardcover book but a paper type booklet. I will check at Xavier University’s Archives where I found it and get back to you.

  4. Shellie,

I have added the class officers in the 1945 Xavier Prep Graduation group. These 13 students were not pictured in the regular group photo above, just as you said. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Enjoy !!

  5. Amazing ! My mom, Lolita Villavaso Tervalon recently passed and seeing her photo as a high school senior is a delight and a balm.
    Sincerely, Jervey Tervalon

  6. To: Jervey Tervalon :
Several of our readers have asked me how your mom and I share the same name, especially since it is such an odd one. My answer is, “I really do not know.” I never met her, but do know that we are from two Villavaso brothers. Charles (your mom’s grandfather) and Alfred (my g-grandfather). From her photo I can tell she was a pretty lady and I’m sure you were proud to be her son.

  7. Lolita, you do an excellent job explaining conflicting names and dates. I enjoy the articles and the pictures but the background that you provide is really appreciated.

Thanks to you and the staff.

    Regards,
    Helen Johnson

  8. Third on the fourth row of the first picture is Arthur Starck, not Starch. People always mess up our last name. Thank you for posting these!!
